Team Manager Roles/duties
THE ROLE OF THE TEAM MANAGER
The duty of the team manager is to act as an administrative assistant to the head coach and to facilitate communications between coaches, parents, and the KAHA board of directors. The team manager is also the custodian of team documents, the coordinator of events and travel for the team, and responsible for team finances.
Team Managers are basically involved in any and all off ice activities including:
- Facilitating communications between parents, coaches & age-level directors
- Maintaining the team event schedule
- Making team travel arrangements & submitting travel permits
- Keeping the Team Manager’s Book
- Creating the team budget and managing team finances
- Reporting any SafeSport violation in accordance with the SafeSport Handbook
As the Team Manager, you take on the operational aspects of the team, allowing the coach to focus on player development and on-ice instruction. Communications is the key. Make sure all pertinent information is provided to parents and coaches in a timely manner.

- Team staff should have submitted all appropriate documentation.
- Roster must be approved PRIOR to first game.
TEAM CREDENTIALS
Teams
- All team staff & players must have a current USA Hockey registration number.
- All teams must have an Official USA Hockey roster - The association registrar will provide you with a link to the roster. The link will remain constant throughout the season and will automatically reflect any changes to the roster. Use this link any time to download or print the team roster.
Coaches
In order to be placed on the roster, coaches must have current training and certifications. Please review the coaches checklist on the coaches resource page.
Managers:
In order to be placed on the roster, all managers must have:
- Current USA Hockey Membership. Typically good for one seasons.
- Current USA Hockey SafeSport certification. Typically good for two seasons. As of January 1, 2018, all individuals who need to be SafeSport certified or are seeking recertification will need to complete the new three-course SafeSport training, which features updated content.
- Current USA Hockey background screening.
Players:
- Signed KAHA Player Commitment Letter
- Non-US citizens will need an approved transfer before being placed on a roster.
- DOB/citizenship verification is a one-time requirement.
Code of Conduct:
- This information is collected during the first parent meeting and will be provided
TEAM BOOKS
The following paperwork needs to be in your team binder for all league games and tournaments:
- USA Hockey Approved Roster
- Consent to Treat Form - These forms are automatically generated by the registration and will be given to you by the registrar.
- Code of Conduct - All players, coaches and team manager must have a Code of Conduct form in the team binder. These completed forms are automatically generated through the registration and will be given to you by the registrar.
- Concussion Training Certificate - All coaches need a copy of this certificate in the team binder.
NATIONAL-BOUND TEAMS (TIER 2)
Tier 2 managers must review and comply with the SAHA rules and regulations governing National Bound Teams located on the SAHA website.
Tier 2 teams must have printed copies of their game score sheets!
TEAM MANAGER CHECKLIST - START HERE!
All Team Managers MUST complete the following registrations and certifications:
This is an annual registration with no cost to Team Managers and Volunteers.
This is an annual registration with no cost. It usually takes about 48 hours for the background check to be complete.
USA Hockey SafeSport Certification
Beginning this season, SafeSport is required every year rather than every other year (however, anyone who completed training in the most recent season (2018-19) will retain valid training status for 2019-20, and will complete training annually beginning in 2020-21).

Once you are cleared by USA Hockey & KAHA, you will be contacted by the KAHA Treasurer for banking procedures and Crossbar setup.
